Definition:Heat brought to a homogeneous system to increase its temperature, divided by that temperature increase and the amount of substance. It depends on the temperature of the system. At constant volume, CV = 1/N (∂U/∂T)V, where U = inner energy, T = temperature, and N = amount of substance.
